I connect this to the idea of embodiment, a condition from which a central place of our experience emerges. The place in which we find ourselves can challenge our sense of what we are.

The acid yellow and garish, unnatural colours. desert imagery, simple habitation, the branching form over an ordered fragmentation of tiles combining impersonal forces with the personal. A warning to the present from a possible future.

Title: Vedic-21 'Testimonial', Mixed media collage on canvas, 121 x 121cm

Can we listen to the voices of the displaced and feel secure? Can we sense their presence? Can we imagine what it feels like to be in another's skin?

The artwork provides a range of different ‘skins’. The testimonials are the personal response. Finding the place of gratitude, a feeling of receiving help and a sense of stability in difficult conditions, a place of community, redeems something. Growth despite adversity.
